Anyone who loves the vibrant energy of the big city should consider a New York NY Broadway vacation. Rather than getting back to nature, get into the amazing world of the Big Apple. While seeing shows is a main attraction of such a vacation, it is not the only one. It does help to have a bit of background and knowledge about Broadway before you decide to vacation there. Broadway refers to an area of Manhattan known as the Theater District. There are actually 39 different theaters that make up Broadway.

The history of New York City theater on Broadway is one dating back to the 1800s. Rather than bore you with historical details, however, let's take a look at this popular destination as it stands today. Normally, evening shows have performances Tuesday through Saturday. The curtain time is usually 8 pm and there is a matinee offered on certain days such as Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at either 2 or 3 pm depending on the day. This particular schedule means there are no shows on Mondays. Of course you may find exceptions to the rule. The majority of Broadway stars have some of Sunday and all of Monday off rather than Saturday and Sunday.

You can buy tickets to Broadway shows at the Broadway ticket booth and at the Times Square TKTS booth. There are other places tickets are sold as well, including online. Many ticket brokers buy in mass quantities so they can pass on the savings to their customers while making a profit. When shopping online make sure you deal with sellers who are members of the NATB which stands for the National Association of Ticket Brokers.This association upholds its members to strict standards when it comes to selling tickets.
